Job summary

York University’s Lassonde School of Engineering invites applications for an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream in Structural Engineering/Structural Materials. The appointment is teaching-focused and tenure-track, commencing July 1, 2027.

Responsibilities include developing and delivering laboratory practicum components for undergraduate courses, contributing to curriculum innovation, and supporting student learning with industry engagement and work‑integrated learning.

Qualifications

• PhD in Structural Engineering/Structural Mechanics or near completion by start.
• Strong commitment to pedagogy and student success; capable of designing innovative teaching.
• Experience with curriculum development including experiential education and technology-enhanced learning.
• Eligibility for P.Eng. license in Canada shortly after appointment.
• Experience or interest in accreditation and curriculum quality assurance.

Responsibilities

• Teach and develop laboratory practicum components for undergraduate courses.
• Coordinate delivery of courses and contribute to graduate teaching where appropriate.
• Support student learning through pedagogical innovation and assessment.
• Engage with industry and work-integrated learning opportunities.
• Contribute to governance and service at department, faculty, and university levels.
