Responsibilities
  • Grading Assignments and Exams: Provide fair and constructive feedback to help students improve.
  • Facilitating Discussions: Lead study groups or discussion sessions to deepen understanding of course material.
  • Assisting Instructors: Help prepare teaching materials, organize class activities, and manage online learning platforms.
  • Holding Office Hours: Offer additional support to students needing extra help or clarification.
  • Compiling Grades: Accurately record and maintain student grades as requested by instructors.
  • Proctoring Exams: Ensure academic integrity during examinations.
  • Providing Administrative Support: Assist with various administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of courses.
Official Duties

The GTA/TA duties are set by each instructor and may vary by course, instructor, and semester. Duties may include marking assignments, invigilation, leading lab sections, and providing administrative support. Hours vary per course. Students must have completed the required Teaching Assistant course prior to selection. Preference for students with a final 75% or higher in the course(s) they wish to assist with.

Physical Demands

Pay Grade: As Per CUPE 2419 | Salary Range: As per CUP 2419 Collective Agreement | Status: Term | Work Hours: Casual | Assigned by each instructor.

Working Hours

Hours vary per course. For Bus 385 – Friday 11:30 am -12:45 pm, course modality/dates/time duration given as part of the term.
