Job summary

Grand Trunk School in Evansburg, Alberta, is hiring an Elementary Generalist Teacher for a 1.0 FTE position. Duties commence September 1, 2026 and run through June 30, 2027, with Monday–Friday work weeks.

Qualifications

Job description

Applications are invited for the position of Teacher at Grand Trunk School.

Position: Teacher, Probationary: Elementary Generalist.

Location: Evansburg, AB.

Start Date: Duties commence September 1, 2026, and end June 30, 2027.

Hours of Work: 1.0 FTE (Monday–Friday).

The competition will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.

Located in Evansburg, Alberta, just one hour west of Edmonton, Grand Trunk School is a fully modernized K–12 facility within the Grande Yellowhead Public School Division. Serving approximately 400 students, this revitalized campus is dedicated to providing an inclusive, high-quality educational experience in a supportive environment tailored to the success of every learner.

Role and Responsibilities

• Providing instruction to promote high quality student-centered learning.
• Designing and preparing lessons based on curriculum and following a variety of methodologies in teaching and instructing students, including lectures, demonstrations and discussions.
• Facilitating inclusive educational practices to maximize educational opportunities for all students.
• Reviewing and evaluating each student's performance, knowledge and skills and meeting all reporting and assessment deadlines.
• Adhering to provincial legislation, board policy and division administrative procedures.
• Developing constructive relationships with parents.
• Modeling commitment to professional development.

Requirements

• Possess an Alberta Teaching Certificate or be eligible for one.
• Have experience in following the Teaching Quality Standard (TQS) and infusing literacy across the curriculum.
• Hold a Bachelor’s degree of Education.
