Job summary

Provincial and Demonstration Schools Branch seeks two full-time permanent Elementary Teachers of the Deaf for Ernest C. Drury School for the Deaf in Milton.

The roles begin September 1, 2026, within a bilingual ASL/English, student-centred environment that champions inclusion and excellence. The positions require Ontario College of Teachers certification with Deaf Specialist or related qualification, and J/I or P/J certification.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience teaching Deaf/hard of hearing students in academic programs.
• Ability to develop and modify lesson plans and to create IEPs.
• In-depth knowledge of bilingual-biliteracy-bicultural education for Deaf students.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including proficiency in English and ASL.
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team with students with multiple exceptionalities.

Two positions – 1.0 Permanent – Ernest C. Drury School for the Deaf, Elementary program, Milton.

Positions are available September 1, 2026. Contracts rated under the Provincial Schools Authority.

We are seeking two passionate, full-time permanent Elementary Teachers to join our Ernest C. Drury School for the Deaf in Milton. Qualifications:

• Valid Certificate of Registration and Qualifications from the Ontario College of Teachers;
• Deaf Specialist / Teaching Students Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, or currently engaging in completing the requirements for the specialist qualification;
• Primary/Junior or Junior/Intermediate Division qualifications required.

Abilities:

• Demonstrated experience teaching Deaf/hard of hearing students in academic programs and/or programs for students with multiple exceptionalities;
• Ability to develop and modify lesson plans and to create IEPs to effectively teach Deaf students;
• In-depth knowledge of the principles of teaching Deaf students;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including proficiency in English and American Sign Language (ASL);
• Ability to apply an in-depth knowledge of bilingual-biliteracy-bicultural education for Deaf students;
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team with students with multiple exceptionalities.
