MNP is a leading national accounting, tax and business advisory firm in Canada seeking a Tax Technician to support internal tax compliance and communication of tax matters within our National Tax Services Group.

You will assist in tax engagements, prepare personal and corporate returns, set up client files and work with engagement teams to resolve issues, with travel as needed.

Competenze

• Post-secondary degree or certificate in accounting or another relevant field.
• Experience in accounting, customer service and/or client service is desirable.
• Experience with accounting and tax software is a plus, and knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act is valuable.

• Assist in the completion of tax engagements by computing taxes owed, preparing personal and corporate tax returns and other compliance slips.
• Set up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses.
• Prepare journal entries and provide bookkeeping services.
• Review legal documents such as articles of incorporation, purchase agreements and amalgamation agreements.
• Identify issues and discrepancies and discuss resolutions with managers or engagement partners.

As a trusted advisor, you’ll work internally to support the delivery of tax compliance services and the communication of tax matters.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the completion of tax engagements by computing taxes owed, preparing personal and corporate tax returns (and other compliance slips), preparing year-end tax forms (T4s and T5s), calculating and reviewing share capital
• Set up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses
• Prepare journal entries and provide bookkeeping services
• Review legal documents such as articles of incorporation, purchase agreements and amalgamation agreements
• Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies and discuss with managers or engagement partners to develop resolutions
• Correspond with clients and various government agencies to address client tax compliance issues
• Assist in the preparation of correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining engagement findings, facts and highlights
• Work collaboratively with the client engagement team
• Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary

Skills and Experience

• Post-secondary degree or certificate in accounting or another relevant field
• The following would be considered an asset:
• Experience in an accounting, customer service and/or client service environment
  • Experience in financial statement analysis and preparation of tax returns
  • Experience working with accounting and tax software
  • Working knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act
