Ready to Launch?

We are looking for a Tax Manager to play a key role in managing the company’s global tax function across Canada and the U.S. This is a Canada or US‑based position. Candidates must have an existing work authorization in Canada or the US and full-time availability during the business hours of 9am-5:30pm Monday through Friday.

Prepare for Impact

Reporting to the Director of Finance and working closely with other members of the Finance team, the Tax Manager is a hands‑on role responsible for corporate tax compliance, indirect tax, cross‑border tax strategy, and tax provision reporting. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of both U.S. and Canadian tax, sound judgment in navigating cross‑border and transfer pricing issues, and the ability to translate complex tax topics into clear guidance for internal stakeholders. They will help implement scalable processes and manage tax risk as the company grows.

Responsibilities
  • Tax Compliance & Reporting: Oversee corporate tax compliance for both U.S. and Canada, including federal, state/provincial, and local filings.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of corporate income tax, sales tax (GST/HST/PST/VAT), and other indirect taxes.
  • Manage quarterly and annual tax provision calculations under US GAAP and IFRS.
  • Maintain compliance with transfer pricing regulations and prepare required documentation.
  • Coordination of SR&ED filings.
  • Support accurate tax reporting and compliance related to withholding tax and intercompany distributions.
  • Tax Planning & Strategy: Develop and implement tax‑efficient strategies to optimize the company’s global tax position.
  • Identify and mitigate cross‑border tax risks, including permanent establishment exposure.
  • Advise on tax implications of business operations, M&A, restructurings, and new market entry.
  • Monitor U.S. and Canadian tax law changes and assess business impact.
  • Audit & Risk Management: Lead responses to tax audits and inquiries from CRA, IRS, and other authorities.
  • Maintain strong internal controls over tax compliance and financial reporting.
  • Partner with legal, accounting, and finance to proactively manage tax risk.
Collaboration & Advisory
  • Advise internal stakeholders on payroll tax, sales tax, international tax, and other operational matters.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors to ensure compliance and alignment with best practices.
  • Collaborate with country subsidiaries on accurate tax reporting and compliance.
  • Support implementation of tax technology or automation solutions where applicable.
  • Other duties as required.
Your Past Missions
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field.
  • CPA designation (U.S. or Canada) is required.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in U.S. and Canadian corporate tax.
  • Hands-on experience with transfer pricing, cross-border structuring, and indirect taxes.
  • Prior experience with SR&ED claims is an asset.
  • Experience with ERPs (NetSuite experience an asset).
  • Experience in dealing with multiple currencies.
Your Toolkit
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and IFRS tax reporting.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain tax issues to non‑tax stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Your Compensation

Base Salary Range: $120,000-$150,000 CAD annually.

The range of $120,000-$150,000 annually depends on job-related skills, experience, training, education, location and business needs. The range is based on BC-derived compensation for this role. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Only in rare and exceptional circumstances, when a candidate has the experience, skills, and expertise to exceed those required for the position, would we consider paying at the top of the range for this role.
