We currently have an excellent career opportunity for a Tax Litigation Associate. EY’s global alliance of independent law firms cooperates with our offices worldwide to provide our clients with integrated, quality service. Our award‑winning tax planning, counsel and litigation teams offer a powerful combination of legal knowledge, experience and national presence to help organizations successfully navigate the complexities of Canada’s tax laws.

Your key responsibilities
  • Assist clients in responding to federal and provincial audits and strategically advise clients on the various options and steps in resolving tax disputes.
  • Prepare notices of objection and written representations to the federal and provincial tax authorities.
  • Assist with the litigation in resolving tax disputes, including court appeals, judicial review applications, and other administrative processes such as voluntary disclosures, taxpayer relief applications, ruling requests, and remission orders.
  • Assist with the preparation of legal opinions with respect to the tax consequences of transactions and performing post‑transaction audits for tax efficacy and litigation risk.
Skills and attributes for success
  • The ideal candidate will have 2+ years’ experience with income tax, sales tax, and other taxes.
  • Prior tax litigation experience is an asset.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have strong foundational knowledge of Canada’s income tax, sales tax, or other Canadian tax systems.
  • The candidate should be a member in good standing of the Law Society of their province of residence.
  • Proficiency in French and English.
