Job Title: Tax Accountant – Seasonal / Full-Time
Location: Cochrane, AB
Type: Full-Time or Part-Time (Seasonal: February–May 2025, with optional part-time bookkeeping work in January)

Our client is a small, dynamic public accounting firm based in Cochrane, AB, providing full-service accounting solutions to small businesses and individuals across Alberta. The team prides itself on accuracy, professionalism, and a collaborative, supportive work environment.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Tax Accountant to join the team full-time for the upcoming tax season (part-time options are also available). This role is open to both experienced accountants and recent graduates looking to grow their career in a hands‑on, client‑focused environment.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with clients and internal team members, supporting a variety of tax preparation, bookkeeping, and consulting projects. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, eager to learn, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced practice with diverse client needs.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare year‑end compilation engagements.
  • Prepare personal and corporate tax returns, as well as GST returns.
  • Process T4s and payroll for clients as needed.
  • Assist with specialized tax and consulting projects.
  • Perform bookkeeping tasks as needed, including posting transactions, making corrections, completing reconciliations, and client training.
  • Communicate professionally with clients via phone, email, and meetings.
  • Work with the CRA to resolve questions and issues on behalf of clients.
  • Perform administrative tasks as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively with your manager and colleagues as a team player.
Qualifications
  • University degree in Accounting or Finance; interest in the CPA program, an asset.
  • 2–5 years of experience in a public accounting environment (for experienced hires).
  • CRA audit experience and GST return preparation, an asset.
  • Energetic work ethic with ability to maintain a high level of productivity.
  • Comfortable with technology and learning new software programs.
  • Experience with QuickBooks (Online and Desktop), other bookkeeping software, Office 365, tax programs (e.g., TaxCycle or TaxPrep), and CaseWare.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Punctual, dependable, and committed to quality and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Resourceful with strong problem‑solving and time‑management skills.
