Job summary

OEG Sports & Entertainment seeks a Security Agent to protect the Ice District and Rogers Place, preserving a safe, welcoming environment for fans and partners.

You will conduct Patrols, report incidents, and provide first aid as needed while coordinating with enforcement agencies and internal teams. This role requires 1–3 years in security, valid SSIA, ProTect/ProServe, first aid/CPR/AED, and use-of-force training.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years security industry experience.
  • Valid Alberta SSIA License.
  • Valid ProTect and ProServe certificates.
  • First Aid with CPR/AED.
  • Use-of-Force and de-escalation training.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe and secure environment in the Ice District.
  • Conduct regular patrols of Rogers Place and the Ice District.
  • Report incidents and follow up per operating procedures.
  • Provide first aid, CPR or AED support as necessary until EMS arrives.
  • Develop and maintain positive relations with social agencies and enforcement partners.

Role Summary:

Our Security Agents are critical to the success of the Ice District, including Rogers Place and OEG Sports & Entertainment. Our Agents deliver a consistent and superior level of customer service to clients, fans and stakeholders by actively seeking opportunities to assist and support. This person will ensure that our policies and standards are observed by maintaining a highly visible presence. They will act as a deterrent to undesired activity and help to maintain a safe and welcoming environment in our venue.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe and secure environment in the Ice District.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the Ice District, including Rogers Place, to prevent and detect hazardous or unlawful activity.
  • Remain vigilant for signs of criminal and/or suspicious behavior related to the Ice District and initiate the appropriate steps to report/follow-up as per operating procedures.
  • Provide problem solving solutions for internal partners, external stakeholders and social agencies.
  • Prepare written reports using standard report-writing program for incidents, hazards or deficiencies identified.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid, CPR or AED support as necessary until emergency medical services arrive.
  • Develop and maintain positive external relations with social agencies, partners, and Municipal/Provincial/Federal enforcement agencies.

Who You Are:

  • You are invested in the public safety of Edmonton’s downtown core
  • You have strong knowledge of the Criminal Code and Powers of Arrest
  • You are an effective communicator with great oral and written communication skills
  • You address individuals in a service orientated manner, and perform duties calmly under stressful circumstances
  • You have demonstrated report writing and incident investigation skills
  • You are comfortable with shift-work scheduling, including 12-hour day and night shifts

Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • 1-3 years of security industry-related experience
  • Valid Alberta Security Services and Investigators Act License (SSIA License)
  • Valid ProTect and ProServe certificates
  • Valid First Aid, with CPR/AED or equivalent (St. John’s, Red Cross, Emergency Medical Planning Canada – GMCC)
  • Valid Use-of-Force and verbal de-escalation training
