FTE: 1.00 – Interim

The expected start date is January 5, 2026, and will complete on June 26, 2026.

Subjects

LCI is seeking a Learning Support Teacher to join their team and support their diverse community with a student first approach! The Learning Support Teacher will be responsible for students from grade 9 to 12. The successful candidate will be an eager and enthusiastic educator who:

  • Has successfully demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing individualized support plans (ISPs) and behaviour support plans (BSP's) with goals that address the unique strengths and challenges of students with complex learning and physical needs;
  • Has successfully worked with families and teachers to support and implement individualized support plans (ISPs) and behaviour support plans (BSP's) for students with complex learning and physical needs (preferred);
  • Has experience with level B assessments;
  • Is adept at differentiating instruction through diverse teaching strategies, technologies, and adaptive tools to meet varied learning styles and accessibility needs;
  • Will be committed to fostering collaborative working relationships;
  • Has previous experience in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams - including but not limited to therapists, specialists, and support staff—to develop comprehensive, student-centered support systems;
  • Organizing and directing in-class and in-testing center assessments;
  • Is committed to ongoing professional development and professionalism.
  • Applicants must possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.

Conditions of Employment

In order to ensure and maintain a safe and secure working and learning environment, applicants new to Lethbridge School

Division who are offered employment must provide:

  • A police information check; including Vulnerable Sector Check from Police Services or an RCMP detachment that does not have any charges or convictions.
  • A satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.
  • Proof of photo identification, may be a valid driver’s licence, provincial identification card as issued by a licensed government registry office, valid passport or Nexus card. If one cannot be provided, a new card must be obtained and proof of application provided within three days of hire.
  • Documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee’s legal name. If valid Social Insurance documentation in the current legal name can not be provided, the successful candidate will be required to obtain a new one within three days of hire.
