Interac is seeking a Systems Engineering, Senior Specialist to ensure reliability, resiliency, and security of corporate and enterprise systems across hybrid infrastructure. You will design, operate, and automate platforms with a focus on governance, audits, and continuous improvement.
The role requires 5+ years in infrastructure engineering, strong Azure/AWS and Kubernetes experience, and proficiency in IaC, VMware, AD/Exchange, and observability tools.

The vacant Systems Engineering, Senior Specialist role will report to the Leader, Infrastructure Operations. The Systems Engineering, Senior Specialist is responsible for the reliability, resiliency, and security of Interac’s corporate and enterprise systems across hybrid infrastructure (on‑premises and cloud). The role supports hands‑on engineering to design and operationalization of platforms and services while contributing to technical standards, automation, and governance guardrails. Partnering within Platform Engineering & Operations, Security, Network, and application teams, the Senior Specialist helps improve service quality against defined service levels, supports compliance readiness through audit‑ready operations and evidence, and drives continuous improvement through continuous adoption of automation efficiencies, proactive remediation, monitoring, and operational excellence.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/IT (or equivalent combination of education and experience). 5+ years of job‑related experience in infrastructure engineering/operations across hybrid environments (on‑prem and cloud). Eligibility to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a full‑time capacity. Strong background in Azure or AWS cloud solutions, including landing zone controls and network configuration, compute, Kubernetes (K8s) orchestration, databases, storage, access policies and management, and observability. Proven experience with source control and DevOps tooling to manage infrastructure and application code, particularly pipeline/runner development and configuration with GitHub Actions and Jenkins, along with other artifact storage and QE components such as Artifactory and SonarQube. Proven experience with infrastructure automation and configuration tooling, including Terraform, CLI, and Ansible. 5+ years of working knowledge and experience with Linux distributions (RHEL, CentOS, Oracle) and Microsoft Windows Server. 5+ years of experience managing VMware core components, including vCenter and ESX. Experience with Active Directory sites and services, Azure AD Connect, Azure AD, AD Certificate Services, Exchange Server, and MS SQL. Working knowledge of observability tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Azure Monitor/Insights, and CloudWatch; experience with AI‑driven operational automation is an asset. Demonstrated ability to create and maintain capacity plans and execute actions to ensure services continue to perform optimally; experience supporting high availability, backup/recovery, and DR/BCP practices. The ability to perform well in strict, change‑controlled, process‑driven environments and agile, flexible environments. Knowledge and experience supporting an ISO27001‑governed ISMS practice. Comfortable operating in audit‑ready environments (e.g., ISO 27001), including coordinating evidence gathering, maintaining operational documentation, and tracking remediation through to closure. Knowledge of backup technologies such as Dell Data domain and Veeam. Experience with Office 365, Azure Virtual Desktop, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online. Knowledge of Atlassian Tools, Jira, Confluence in particular. Exemplary interpersonal and technical support and client management skills. Curious and logical thinking about solving technology, process, or procedural challenges in a team environment.
The hiring range for this position is $90,000 - $105,000, and you will also be eligible for our short‑term incentive plan. The exact amount will depend on factors such as skills, experience, and job‑related knowledge, but Interac’s commitment goes beyond compensation.
