The Role

Are you an experienced in Electrical and/or Mechatronics control systems and ready to take the next step in your career? Join Orora’s dynamic Can Ends manufacturing facility in Ballarat – the only one of its kind across Australia and New Zealand – and be part of a high-performing team driving innovation and growth in the packaging industry.

As our Control Systems Engineer, you’ll take ownership of our PLC and automation control systems to ensure equipment reliability across the site. You'll play a critical role in supporting production, quality, and spoilage reduction goals, while leading capital projects and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve equipment issues.
  • Manage site industrial automation systems – PLCs (AB, Omron), SCADA (Ignition).
  • Manage breakdown response and corrective actions.
  • Oversee inventory and procurement of control system supplies.
  • Installation and commissioning new equipment and systems.
  • Develop business cases and capital project proposals.
About You
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a relevant Electrical Trade Certificate.
  • 2–5 years of hand on experience, with a strong ability to work with others.
  • A strong background in PLC and automation programming.
