Job summary

SYSTRA Canada Inc. is seeking a senior Systems Assurance Leader to provide strategic oversight for reliability, safety, and risk management across the Lakeshores portfolio as part of the GO Expansion Program.

This on-site role requires deep RAMS expertise, regulatory knowledge, and leadership across engineering teams in Ontario. The successful candidate will drive governance, safety certification, IV&V, testing, and commissioning activities, ensuring seamless integration of rail and transit

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing with PEO.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years of progressive engineering infrastructure experience, incl. 5+ years in senior leadership of systems assurance for rail/transit programs.
• Strong knowledge of Systems Assurance, RAMS, safety certification, IV&V, Testing & Commissioning and lifecycle processes.
• Knowledge of EN 50126/50128/50129 or IEEE/ISO 15288 frameworks.
• Familiarity with Ontario legislation and Metrolinx safety governance.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and technical oversight for Systems Assurance across the Lakeshores portfolio.
• Establish and adapt Systems Assurance and Safety Certification processes; govern end-to-end V-model lifecycle.
• Lead risk and hazard management activities and oversee submittals by delivery partners.
• Ensure rolling stock, signalling and related systems are safely designed and integrated per RAMS requirements.
• Provide assurance alignment with GO Expansion Program delivery.

Context

This role supports the Go Expansion Program. The role is associated with the Delivery Partners for Metrolinx on the program.

Missions/Main Duties

• Provide strategic leadership and technical oversight for Systems Assurance across the Lakeshores portfolio, including engineering governance, systems integration and safety certification.
• Establish, implement and adapt Systems Assurance and Safety Certification processes; govern the end-to-end V-model lifecycle through design, IV&V, Testing & Commissioning and operational handover; and oversee integration across ATS, CBTC, SCADA, trackside infrastructure and cybersecurity.
• Lead risk and hazard management activities, including hazard logs, FMECA and risk analysis, support safety certification and regulatory processes, and oversee technical submittals and assurance activities undertaken by delivery partners and engineering consultants.
• This is a key Systems Assurance leadership role required to provide strategic technical oversight, engineering governance and safety assurance for the Lakeshores portfolio.
• The role is required to provide assurance that rolling stock, signalling, traction power and associated transit systems are safely designed, integrated and commissioned in accordance with applicable RAMS and safety requirements.
• The position is currently vacant within the approved SE&I Systems Assurance organisation structure and is required to support delivery of the GO Expansion Program.

Profile/Skills

• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years' progressive engineering infrastructure experience, preferably including at least 5 years in senior leadership of systems assurance for complex rail, transit or major brownfield capital programmes.
• Strong knowledge of Systems Assurance, RAMS, safety certification, IV&V, Testing & Commissioning and systems engineering lifecycle processes.
• Knowledge of CENELEC EN 50126, EN 50128 and EN 50129, or equivalent IEEE/ISO 15288 systems engineering frameworks.
• Knowledge of relevant Ontario legislation and Metrolinx safety governance requirements.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, technical communication, negotiation and risk-management capability.
