Job Summary

As a System Engineering Specialist in the Research & Development department, you will play a significant role in producing high quality technical requirement specifications for new products and features in our Network Instruments Portfolio. In active collaboration with the product line management team, you will identify and understand customer use cases and market needs, define innovative and appropriate solutions, and support development teams throughout the product lifecycle. This role includes a strong focus on next-generation high-speed Ethernet technologies (1.6T / 3.2T) and electrical transmission systems based on 224G and 448G signaling. You will be part of a System Engineering team where responsibilities are shared across multiple experts, each contributing their domain knowledge to the overall product definition.

What you'll do
  • Act as a resident technical subject matter expert
  • Conduct domain technology scouting and follow industry standards
  • Produce technology studies on emerging topics of interest for the business
  • Define new test products, features and methodologies
  • Produce detailed technical specifications for development teams
  • Ensure the conceptual and technical integrity of product and feature requirements
  • Define user stories, manage and prioritize development backlog
  • Fulfil the role of Technical Product Owner within Agile development teams
  • Contribute to system definition and test strategies for high-speed Ethernet interfaces and next-generation PHY technologies
  • Support evaluation and integration of high-speed electrical interfaces (112G / 224G / 448G) in test and measurement systems
What we're looking for

Technical skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of high-speed Ethernet technologies (400G, 800G, 1.6T and beyond)
  • Strong understanding of electrical transmission and SerDes technologies (112G, 224G and beyond)
  • Good understanding of transmitter and receiver architectures, including equalization, link training, clock and data recovery (CDR), forward error correction (FEC), signal conditioning, jitter/noise considerations and overall link behavior.
  • Good knowledge of transport/datacom protocols such as TCP/IP, 1588 PTP
  • Strong understanding of applicable industry standards (IEEE 802.3, OIF, etc.)
  • Familiar with high-speed hardware interfaces and system constraints such as signal integrity, bandwidth and latency
  • Experience with test and measurement systems is an asset
  • Excellent technical writing abilities
