Job summary

Ericsson in Ottawa, Canada, seeks a security-focused developer to drive radio security features and guide secure implementation across hardware, software, and RAN components.

You will analyze requirements, lead multi-disciplinary discussions, and contribute to system studies within the Radio and Security domains. Strong English communication and agile practices are essential.

  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and CI/CD for product development.

  • Drive radio security studies to develop robust security features for customers.

Job description

What you will do
  • Driving Radio security studies to develop robust security features for customers.
  • Lead technical investigations on security topics, propose mitigations, and drive decisions with impacted design teams.
  • Systemizing security functionality for radio software, in alignment with the System Area charters for Radio and Security through participation in system studies to cover security aspects.
  • Analyze and break down security requirements into implementable system requirements and design constraints for radio units and RAN components.
  • Supporting Architects, OPOs, drivers and development teams with expert guidance in secure implementation.
  • Driving continuous improvement in product security in line with the latest development in security area.
  • Participate in relevant forums and communities (System Area groups, Security Chapters, seminars) and share learnings, best practices, and guidance across the Radio organization.
The skills you bring
  • Solid background in radio/RAN systems, embedded systems, or telecom HW/SW, with experience from at least one of: radio HW, radio SW, RAN compute.
  • Strong understanding of security fundamentals, including Cryptographic primitives (hashing, symmetric / asymmetric crypto, digital signatures) and secure boot and trusted execution concepts.
  • Experience in system engineering / systemization:
    • Requirements analysis and decomposition
    • Defining system behaviors, interfaces, and constraints
    • Writing clear, structured technical documentation.
  • Ability to lead technical discussions and drive decisions across multi‑disciplinary teams (HW, SW, ASIC, manufacturing, security governance).
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a structured way of working and good attention to detail.
  • Understanding of agile way of working, CI/CD setup for product development.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
Nice‑to‑have
  • Experience with 5G RAN and Ericsson Radio System products (radios, AAS, RAN compute, transport, or Cloud RAN). Hands‑on experience with Secure boot / secure storage / secure debug implementations.
  • Familiarity with BNEW security frameworks, Baseline Security Requirements (BSR), and Radio Security Requirements in DOORS NG.
  • Experience collaborating with Security Masters, Security Champions, or Product Security organizations.

Compensation and benefits

The salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, and the candidate’s combination of job‑related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.

The salary range for this position is $129,500 - $170,100. Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus. Actual bonus payouts are based on performance of the business against the unit’s objectives, individual performance, and the individual bonus target. Certain eligibility and proration rules apply.

Ericsson offers excellent health benefits including the choice of 3 medical and dental plan options that allow an employee to select the level of coverage that suits their needs. Core level coverage is paid for fully by Ericsson.

We invest in both your short and long‑term financial well‑being. Ericsson’s Group Retirement & Savings Program offers an automatic 2% company contribution into the Pension Plan. Ericsson also offers a 50% match of employee’s contribution into the Registered Retirement Savings Plan, up to 8% of the employee’s contribution (maximum of 4% match). This leads to a total company contribution potential of 6%. Employees will also basic life insurance and basic accidental death and dismemberment coverage at two‑times annual base pay at no cost, as well as short‑term disability coverage. Employees also have the option to participate in Ericsson’s Stock Purchase Plan.

Your work‑life balance is important to us. New employees are provided a minimum of 18 days of accrued vacation, at least 3 personal days, minimum 10 holidays, 1 volunteer day, and sick days. Paid time off is pro‑rated based on the employee’s start date. Furthermore, Ericsson provides up to 10 weeks of paid maternity leave and 6 weeks of parental or adoption leave at 100% of pay.
