Position Overview

ABB Measurement & Analytics plant in Québec is the world leader in spectroscopy. Our contract engineering department is Canada's largest supplier of space optical sensors used for greenhouse gas emissions monitoring and weather forecasting, among other applications.

Our plant is known for its expertise in developing and manufacturing products that meet various industrial analysis needs daily. Joining one of the largest engineering departments in Québec (Canada), you will be part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary engineering team overseeing the development of instruments in the space and defense (SDS) domain. You will ensure their successful, on-time delivery within budget and in compliance with quality and safety standards.

Candidate Profile

The ideal engineer or scientist has strong reasoning skills, is autonomous, works well within a multidisciplinary team, and has R&D experience in system conception and analysis for space instruments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Engagement & Communication: Serve as the main technical contact for clients, understanding their needs, maintaining trust, and delivering presentations in French and English.
  • Systems Engineering Leadership: Define and manage system requirements, technical budgets, and risks, ensuring system conformity.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers and engineers to plan schedules, track technical actions, and lead Agile-based technical meetings.
  • Testing & Validation: Work with the Test and Integration team to develop test plans and validation strategies.
  • Process Improvement & Planning: Estimate effort for new projects and improve systems engineering tools, including MBSE.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering (or equivalent) with at least 12 years of experience in systems engineering for infrared optical instruments in space or remote sensing.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and documentation skills; familiar with space industry standards like INCOSE, CMMI, MIL-STD, and ISO.
  • Proficient in MagicDraw (MBSE), Windchill, Primavera, SAP, Office Suite, and Matlab or Python.
  • Results-driven, collaborative, and client-focused with a proven ability to follow procedures and contribute to space 2.0 initiatives.
  • Fully bilingual in French and English, with French required and English essential for communication outside Quebec.
