Qualifications

  • Experience with embedded/control systems or real-time monitoring is an asset.

Qidni Labs Inc. is a clinical-stage medical device company focused on transforming dialysis for people living with kidney failure. The team is developing highly accessible, portable dialysis technology that is nearly waterless and can be fully powered by rechargeable batteries. By removing much of the traditional infrastructure required for dialysis, Qidni Labs aims to make treatment more available to patients globally. Role Description

The System Engineer will work on-site in Kitchener, ON in a full-time capacity, supporting the development, integration, and maintenance of Qidni Labs’ dialysis systems and related technologies. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and implementing system architectures, configuring and administering system components, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure reliability and performance. The role involves diagnosing and resolving technical issues, providing hands-on troubleshooting and technical support, and contributing to the continuous improvement of system functionality and safety. The System Engineer will help define requirements, participate in testing and validation activities, and document system configurations and procedures in alignment with regulatory and quality standards.

Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess strong Systems Engineering and Systems Design skills to architect, integrate, and optimize complex medical device systems.
  • Candidates should possess solid System Administration and Technical Support skills to configure, maintain, and support hardware and software components.
  • Candidates should possess effective Troubleshooting skills to diagnose, isolate, and resolve system issues in a timely, systematic manner.
  • Relevant experience in medical devices, healthcare technology, or regulated industries (e.g., ISO, FDA, Health Canada) is beneficial.
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Experience with embedded systems, control systems, or real-time monitoring is an asset.
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality, and continuous improvement in a clinical innovation setting.
