Job Description & Summary

A career in Sustainability in Deals will provide you with the opportunity to help our clients do deals right, build trust, and deliver sustained value in a rapidly changing world.

Our team advises Canada’s leading corporations and investors on how to navigate the complex and evolving landscape of sustainability. We are at the intersection of finance and sustainability, helping our clients uncover risks, identify opportunities for value creation, shape investment strategies, and maximize access to capital in the context of high stakes transactions.

Meaningful work you’ll be part of

As a Senior Associate, you’ll help clients navigate critical sustainability issues during acquisitions and divestitures. This isn’t about ticking boxes; it’s about providing tangible, value‑driven advice that shapes the future of businesses. You will play a pivotal role in executing sustainability due diligence and advising clients on integrating sustainability considerations into their investment lifecycle.

Responsibilities
  • Uncover value for sellers: Help companies articulate the sustainability value inherent in their business, strengthening their investment case for a sale, carve‑out, or divestiture.
  • Assess risks and opportunities for buyers: Conduct sustainability due diligence to identify material factors that could add or erode deal value, quantify their impact, and help develop a practical, commercially grounded plan to position the buyer for post‑close success.
  • Advise on strategy and value creation: Go beyond traditional due diligence to advise investors on post‑acquisition ESG integration, strategy, and performance improvement.
  • Overall contribution: If you are passionate about using your transaction and strategy skills to help the business community build a more sustainable and equitable future, this is the role for you.
Experiences and skills you’ll use to solve

We’re looking for a unique blend of analytical rigor, commercial acumen, and a genuine passion for sustainability. You are a creative problem‑solver, comfortable navigating ambiguity and finding solutions with imperfect information.

Qualifications
  • Three to five years of relevant professional experience in a field such as management consulting, corporate finance, M&A/transactions, private equity, or other investment role.
  • Strong understanding of sustainability topics (climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, etc.) and standards (SASB, TCFD, etc.) with the ability to apply them in a commercial context. Professional experience in a sustainability‑related role is a strong asset.
  • Ability to connect sustainability topics with a company’s core financial and operational drivers.
  • Strong data analysis skills, including the ability to research and use large, disparate, or incomplete datasets to generate insights and build a compelling narrative.
  • Affinity for synthesizing large or unstructured information, performing both qualitative and quantitative analysis, and connecting this to financial value.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and report‑writing skills, with the ability to distill complex topics into clear, impactful advice. Ability to manage multiple senior stakeholders, build consensus, and work effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Flexibility to travel to local clients as needed and occasional travel within Canada.
