Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Survey Technician / Technologist to join our Transportation practice in Saskatoon or Regina. You’ll contribute to roadways, bridges and hydraulic projects from design through construction, working with engineers and a team on diverse projects across Saskatchewan.

Responsibilities include site setup, topographic surveys, drafting in Civil 3D, and QA/QC of survey data while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent in related field; or equivalent education and experience.
• Minimum 3 years’ working experience in transportation engineering fields.
• Accredited or eligible for accreditation with SASTT.
• Experience with Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways manuals, specifications and survey codes is an asset.
• Knowledge of survey and boundary calculations, geodetic coordinate systems and map projections.
• Working knowledge of field survey methods and calculations.
• Valid driver’s license.

Your Opportunity

Our Transportation practice has an immediate requirement for a Survey Technician / Technologist in either our Saskatoon or Regina offices. The role of a Survey Technician / Technologist is to work as a team member on roadways, bridge and culvert/hydraulic projects under the guidance of an Engineer. The Survey Technician / Technologist will utilize their knowledge and experience to contribute to a variety of projects ranging from conceptual design through to construction services.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Work with safety as a top priority.
• Be able to perform site setup and localization.

Your Capabilities And Qualifications

• Field construction experience related to bridges, roads, hydraulic or other heavy civil engineering projects.
• Experience with Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways manuals, specifications and survey codes would be considered an asset.
• Knowledge of survey and boundary calculations, geodetic coordinate systems and map projections.
• Working knowledge in field survey methods and calculations.
• Experienced in using Trimble survey equipment (preferred) including data collectors, GNSS rovers, robotic total stations and 3D scanners.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Excel spreadsheets is an asset.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively discuss project components with internal and external stakeholders is essential.
• Strong organizational skills and understanding of task assignment and schedule.
• Must be able to successfully work both collaboratively and independently.
• Must have a valid Driver’s license.

Education and Experience

• Completion of a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 3 years’ working experience in transportation engineering fields.
• Accredited or eligible for accreditation with SASTT.

Pay Transparency

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
