Job description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Working as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, the Surgical Care Nurse functions as an experienced self-directed surgical care nurse by assessing, planning, providing, and evaluating nursing care for assigned patients.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant;
  • Post-basic education in surgical/ambulatory care nursing on a unit specific basis;
  • An equivalent combination of education and training;
  • Up to two (2) years recent, related experience on a unit specific basis;
  • Basic Life Support, Level C
