Job summary

LASIK MD is seeking a Surgical Assistant in Kingston, ON to join a team of ophthalmology professionals. You will prepare rooms and instruments, assist surgeons, and reassure patients throughout procedures.

The role includes cross-training in OR and receptionist duties, with a focus on precision and safety within a busy clinic. The position offers a permanent full-time schedule (approximately 25–28 hours/week) with benefits, bonus eligibility, and opportunities to work across LASIK MD clinics in

  • Excellent communication in English is required.

  • Interest in health field and helping others is important.
  • Comfort with computers and MS 365; EMR knowledge is a plus.
  • Healthcare experience is an asset for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the operating room and tools before intraocular procedures.
  • Support the surgeon and team during procedures.
  • Communicate with patients to reassure and inform as needed.
  • Coordinate and assist in all interventions as part of the team.
  • Stand for long periods in the operating room and maintain precision.
  • Cross-train in related OR and Reception duties.
  • Assist with Risk Management by reporting safety concerns promptly.

The wage range for this role is $23.73 - $25.22/hr

  • You will become a specialist of the tools and technologies used in intraocular procedures.

  • Your experience in the healthcare field is considered an asset (Optometric Assistant, Orderly, Dental Assistant, Pharmacy Lab Technician, Sterilization Assistant, Animal Health Technician, Veterinary Assistant, Medical Device Reprocessing Technician, etc.).
  • Required: You have the willingness to occasionally help out our partnering LASIK MD clinics in the ON region (planning & expenses covered by Vision Group).
  • Schedule: You have flexible availability to work on Wednesdays from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Thursdays & Saturdays between the hours of 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
