Job summary

Indwell in Kitchener–St. Mark’s Place is seeking a Supportive Housing Coordinator to join our interdisciplinary team. This full-time role supports treatment, rehabilitation, and care for tenants within our housing program serving individuals affected by housing instability.

You will work to connect tenants with community resources, facilitate programs, coordinate volunteers, manage admissions, and help tenants achieve independence while maintaining a safe, respectful environment.

Qualifications

  • Post Secondary education in related field or equivalent.
  • Experience working within a case management framework with individuals with serious mental illness, substance use, or other special needs.
  • Recent PVSC acceptable by Indwell to meet program requirements (own cost).
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certification from an approved provider or willingness to register within 30 days (reimbursement).
  • Knowledge of local community resources, including Indigenous resources and history.
  • Awareness of Indigenous culture and history and impacts of residential schools.
  • Knowledge of landlord-tenant relations is beneficial.
  • Ability to work independently with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Valid G-class driver's license with own vehicle.

Supportive Housing Coordinator – Full Time

Kitchener- St. Mark’s Place

Salary: $47,736.00 -$56,814.00

Position Description:

Participating as a member of an interdisciplinary team, you will support the treatment, rehabilitation, and care for individuals within the program. This housing program serves individuals who have experienced long term housing instability and/or long stay hospitalizations.

Hours of Work:

40 hours per week including weekdays, weekends, evenings and some public holidays. Hours worked to be scheduled as required by program needs. As the program operates 7 days a week, being on-call for 1 week every 4-6 weeks is required to support the tenants and each other on the team. The on-call rotation consists of carrying a work cell phone 24/7 for that one week, responding to urgent matters.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
  • Providing direct and indirect support to tenants living with substance use disorders through a harm reduction approach
  • Helping individuals connect to community resources and supports
  • Reinforcing individuals’ life skills, spirituality, and social and community skills
  • Planning and facilitating programs
  • Supporting and coordinating volunteers
  • Coordinating with outside organizations to provide cultural programming
  • Assisting with admission and orientation of new tenants
  • Rent collection, pest management, and other landlord responsibilities
  • Supporting individuals to achieve their goals while encouraging independence and recovery
  • Maintaining a safe and healthy environment
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
  • Post Secondary education in related field or equivalent
  • Experience working within a case management framework with individuals with serious mental illness, substance use, or other special needs
  • Recent Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) with the information therein acceptable by Indwell to meet the operational requirements of the program- at one’s own cost
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certification from an approved provider that meets Ontario provincial standards or willingness to register for the training within 30 days of employment-reimbursement by Indwell
  • A knowledge of local community resources, including local indigenous resources and community
  • Awareness of Indigenous culture and history and in particular, the impacts of residential schools and intergenerational trauma.
  • Knowledge of landlord-tenant relations is beneficial. A warm, sensitive, and caring approach
  • Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships and have a genuine interest in supporting people living with mental illness
  • Work independently, have strong problem-solving skills, be flexible, organized, responsible, and take initiative
  • A valid “G” class driver’s license with own vehicle
