Job summary

A community support organization in Port Moody is seeking a Consultant to assist families in meeting the childcare and support needs of children and youth. Responsibilities include developing Individualized Support Plans and ensuring inclusion in daily routines. Candidates should have a relevant degree, excellent communication skills, and experience in support facilitation. This is a temporary position for 6 months, requiring flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

  • Maintain a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check Clearance.
  • A valid BC Class 5 driver's license is required.

Job description
POSITION SUMMARY:

The Consultant is responsible for assisting families to meet the childcare and individual support needs of children and youth who require additional support and utilize in‑own home and/or licensed childcare. In collaboration with the family and their childcare program, you will develop an Individualized Support Plan that will encourage the child’s development and inclusion within the context of their daily routines and resources.

This is a temporary position for 6 months.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
  • 4 year degree from a University or College of recognized standing in a field related to the position (e.g., Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology)
  • Maintain a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check Clearance throughout employment
  • A valid BC Class 5 driver’s license
  • Maintain a satisfactory driving record
  • Required to use own vehicle
  • First Aid / CPR
  • NVCI/Mandt Training
  • Willingness to work evenings / weekends (flextime schedule)
  • Requires BCGEU union membership
EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience facilitating a process of individual planning for children and youth who require additional support, and their families, in a variety of inclusive childcare and community settings and experience with home visiting.
  • High level of understanding about the development of children and youth and the impact of disability and delay on growth and development.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with community agencies and government systems and services, including the health and education systems and the Ministry of Children and Family Development.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal, including record keeping, reporting, facilitation, presentation and public speaking skills)
  • Ability to work as an effective team member
  • Demonstrated practical experience in exercising independent judgment and initiative.
