In A Nutshell

Reporting to the Supervisor of Equipment Maintenance, the Support Services Student plays an important role in helping Essex‑Windsor EMS maintain safe, clean, and well‑equipped vehicles, equipment, and stations. This position provides hands‑on support to both the Vehicle Services and Logistics teams, assisting with day‑to‑day tasks that keep EMS operations running smoothly. The student will help with vehicle cleaning, restocking medical and operational supplies, organizing equipment, and supporting inventory processes across EMS facilities. The role also helps prepare vehicles for service, assists with the movement of supplies and equipment, and provides general support during larger departmental projects such as equipment rollouts, vehicle exchanges, or other re‑organisation initiatives.

What We Are Looking For
  • Enrolment in a post‑secondary program in Paramedicine, Automotive or Vehicle Tech, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to receive clear instructions
  • Computer proficiency and data entry skills in spreadsheet, word processing, and database programs
  • Ability to maintain and convey legible and accurate records
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license; good driving record; must be able to drive a variety of vehicles from ambulances to passenger vehicles
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification, or willing to obtain
  • Physically capable of performing moderate to heavy lifting and physical activity
  • Must be returning to full‑time studies in September 2026.
  • Must be free of Communicable Diseases and have all appropriate immunizations as per the MOHLTC EHS “Communicable Disease Standards”
  • The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory police clearance record and will be required to produce a valid driver’s license for a satisfactory driver’s abstract (obtained by the employer).
What We Are Offering
  • $24.85 per hour
  • Up to 40 hours per week (work around school schedule)
  • Duration: January 26, 2026 to July 24, 2026 (with the potential to extend the contract so long as the incumbent will be returning to school in September 2026)
