Job summary

Blanche River Health is seeking a Support Services Aide to assist in Food Services and Housekeeping. The role involves assembling and delivering meal trays to patients, cleaning and handling dishes, and supporting catering requests while maintaining sanitation standards.

The incumbent will also assist with housekeeping duties as part of the Infection Control Team, embracing safety practices and patient-focused service in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (or related experience may be considered)
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to lift, stand, and perform physical tasks including bending and walking for long periods
• Willingness to work flexible hours
• Ability to interact pleasantly with patients, staff and the public

Responsibilities

• Assemble and deliver meal trays to patients accurately

• Support housekeeping duties and infection control practices as part of team responsibilities

Job Summary:

Food Services: When working in the Food Services department the successful incumbent is responsible to help assemble and /or deliver meal trays to patients accurately. They are responsible to pick up, wash and put away all patients' dishes ensuring proper procedures are followed. They are required to keep their work area clean and sanitary according to sanitation and safety standards. The employee is also required to prepare and serve cold food items and to complete work assigned as outlined in their job schedules. They also prepare and deliver all catering requests and supplies to other areas of the hospital.

Housekeeping: The Housekeeping Aide of Blanche River Health is an integral member of the Infection Control Team. By following environment standards set out by provincial best practices, the Housekeeping Aides ensure infection control principles and practices are being met.

Requirements:

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (Related experience may be considered in place of Diploma)
• Must have problem-solving and decision-making skills and be able to work as a member of the team
• Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision
• Must be willing to work flexible hours
• Ability to do lifting, stretching, climbing, standing, walking long periods, use floor machines and other types of heavy equipment
• Demonstrated ability to attend work promptly and regularly and to maintain same
• Ability to interact pleasantly with public, customers and all staff
• Main principles of confidentiality
• Knowledge of Infection Control Procedures
• Bilingualism an asset
