Job summary

The Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) is seeking a Supply Education Assistant to support students with spiritual, educational, social and physical needs. The position includes a daily rate and rostered shifts to cover absences.

Requirements include an Educational Support Diploma and at least one year of experience with individuals with special needs. A pastoral reference or baptismal certificate is required and VSS screening will be completed as a condition of employment.

Qualifications

• Educational Support Diploma or related field of study.
• A minimum of one year working experience with individuals with special needs or equivalent.
• Ability to perform multiple activities without assistance including but not limited to walking/standing long periods, pushing/pulling up to 65kg, frequent reaching, bending, kneeling movements.
• Pastoral Reference Letter or completion of the Priest Reference Form from a Roman Catholic Parish (dated within 12 months) or Baptismal Certificate from a Roman Catholic Church.
• Resume and Cover Letter addressed to the Sr. Manager of Recruitment, Human Resources.

With a staff of 14,000, the TCDSB is a dynamic school board and is seeking Supply Education Assistants. The Board maintains a roster of temporary/casual staff for assignments to cover employee absences. Supply staff are assigned from a pool on an as-needed basis.

The primary function of this position is to provide assistance to students in the areas of spiritual, education, social, behavioural and physical needs. The position will often require heavy lifting.

Requirements

• Educational Support Diploma or related field of study.
• A minimum of one (1) year working experience with individuals with special needs or equivalent (e.g., providing care for family members with special needs, etc.)
• Ability to perform multiple activities without assistance including but not limited to; walking / standing for long periods of time, pushing / pulling up to 65kg, frequent reaching, bending, kneeling movements, etc.
• Pastoral Reference Letter or completion of the Priest Reference Form from a Roman Catholic Parish, indicating you are a practicing Roman Catholic (dated within the past 12 months). Otherwise a Baptismal Certificate from a Roman Catholic Church is required (please note that a positive pastoral reference is required to be considered for all permanent positions).
• Resume and Cover Letter addressed to the Sr. Manager of Recruitment, Human Resources.

The daily rate of pay is $ 194.33. Working hours are 6 hours and 40 minutes per day, excluding unpaid lunch break.

As acondition of employment with the TCDSB, successful candidates will be required to submit a current original Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) prior to commencing employment. Candidates are not advised to obtain this document prior to an offer of employment. Human Resources will advise you to complete a VSS if you are successful through the selection process and the cost of the VSS is the responsibility of the candidate.
