Your Next Challenge

Reporting to the Engineering General Supervisor, you will be part of the Engineering Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.

Design and oversee technical studies regarding all aspects of rock mechanics, including numerical modeling and stability analysis for underground openings and open pits;

Elaborate upon and clearly define ground control strategies to ensure the safety of workers and to optimize ore recovery;

Review the annual LOM as well as the mine design and mining sequence to make sure they are in line with AEM standards and geotechnical best practices;

Ensure regular updating of the ground control programs and proper follow-ups on the different KPIs;

Conduct underground and open pit inspections and implement QA/QC programs to guarantee compliance with GCMP;

Liaise with AEM specialists from the technical services team, project development groups and other mine sites;

Act as a technical stakeholder for deposit studies and long-term projects;

Supervise the work of Rock Mechanics Engineers and Rock Mechanics Mine Technicians;

Provide coaching and training to junior and intermediate mining engineering staff ;

Determine ground support material requirements and monitor inventory levels to ensure compliance with mine plan requirements;

Lead and supervise the rock mechanics team offering ground control and monitoring services for both open pit and underground mines.

What You Need to Succeed

Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or other relevant discipline;

7+ years of work experience in ground control/rock mechanics;

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and mine design/planning software (experience working with Deswik is considered an asset);

Be a member of a Canadian engineering society and be eligible for NAPEG membership.

Note that the official working language at Meadowbank Complex is English.

Your Work Schedule

Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;

Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
