Job summary

Sofina Foods, Inc. in Port Coquitlam, BC is seeking a Production Supervisor for the PM shift to lead production lines and ensure safe, compliant and efficient operations.

Reporting to the Plant Superintendent, you will coach hourly staff, monitor performance against schedules and drive continuous improvement while maintaining quality and cost targets. The role offers full benefits and a pension plan with company match, with a 4pm–12:30am Mon–Fri shift.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of experience in food processing industry.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System); Lean manufacturing concepts would be an asset.
  • Ability to communicate in English verbally and in writing.
  • Basic computer skills. Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver results for production lines on assigned shift in accordance with approved production plans/schedules to meet business objectives.
  • Provide effective leadership and direction to hourly employees and allocate resources.
  • Communicate production performance indicators/requirements (health and safety; food safety and quality; customer service; cost).
  • Check daily production schedules and stock against plans; advise of discrepancies to ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Contribute to reviews and analysis of production performance metrics to maximize value and quality.
  • Monitor production environment (equipment, quality, cost, efficiencies, yield) and resolve issues proactively.
  • Establish methods to meet work schedules and coordinate with other departments.
  • Train production workers in duties, safety procedures and company policy.
  • Support other Supervisors in monitoring production environment and generating data/reporting.
  • Perform duties in the absence of other supervisors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Shift time & schedule: 4pm - 12.30am (Mon to Fri)

Position Summary

Reporting to the Plant Superintendent, the Production Supervisor is responsible for managing production operations on assigned shift that achieve/meet requirements for safety, regulatory compliance, environment, quality, customer service and cost. As part of the Plant’s leadership team, contributes to building and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement of processes, efficiencies and productivity.

Main Duties
  • Deliver results for production lines on assigned shift in accordance with approved production plans/schedules to meet business objectives. This is achieved by:
    • Providing effective leadership and direction to hourly employees (coaching, cross-training, addressing and resolution of HR-related issues and concerns);
    • Appropriate resource allocation;
    • Communication and an on-going reinforcement of production performance indicators/requirements (i.e. health and safety; food safety and quality, customer service, cost, etc.).
  • Check daily production schedules and stock available against plans and advise the plant superintendent of any discrepancies/issues to ensure uninterrupted production process and meeting required efficiency/productivity levels;
  • Contribute to reviews and analysis of the production performance metrics/indicators/requirements to maximize the value and quality of production outputs;
  • Monitor production environment (i.e. equipment, quality, cost, efficiencies, yield, etc.) through establishing a feedback mechanism to ensure proactive resolution of production issues and consistent quality of work and product;
  • Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other departments;
  • Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality;
  • Train production workers in job duties, safety procedures and company policy;
  • Support other Supervisors in monitoring production environment to ensure proactive resolution of production issues and consistent quality of work and product. Assist in generating necessary data / reporting;
  • Perform duties in the absence of other supervisors;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Hiring Range $56,523 - $75,458

Please note that the hiring range provided is derived from a group of like roles within Sofina. The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on geographical region, applicable experience, skillset of the candidate and internal equity.
