Position Summary

We are seeking an exceptional Production Supervisor with strong leadership skills to oversee and guide our manufacturing teams. This position is responsible for ensuring that all products exceed customer requirements while strictly adhering to corporate policies, cultural values, and provincial safety standards. The successful candidate will drive operational excellence by setting and achieving aggressive targets for cost management, safety, schedules, member relations, customer satisfaction, and quality systems compliance. This role will also oversee employee performance appraisals, monitor attendance, uphold performance standards, and effectively manage related programs to ensure fairness, consistency, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead and manage manufacturing team members to meet daily safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
  • Set clear goals, provide direction, deliver training, offer feedback, and recognize performance achievements to enhance individual and team results.
  • Oversee employee performance appraisal processes, monitor attendance, and ensure performance standards are consistently met.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement across all shifts.
Safety & Compliance
  • Act as a safety champion, ensuring all safety procedures and policies comply with provincial regulations.
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections, identify hazards, and ensure all health and safety issues are documented and addressed promptly.
  • Enforce company policies, including PPE requirements, to maintain a safe and orderly work environment.
Operations & Production
  • Maintain production schedules to meet delivery dates and customer expectations.
  • Ensure production standards are followed to produce high-quality products while minimizing scrap.
  • Oversee staffing, equipment maintenance, tooling requirements, and other resources to improve overall business performance.
  • Manage vacation schedules to balance operational needs and employee time-off requests.
  • Maintain an organized shop floor aligned with 5S standards and optimal material flow.
  • Spend significant time on the shop floor to engage with team members and ensure operational targets are met.
Reporting & Communication
  • Complete and submit daily production performance reports.
  • Facilitate communication meetings with teams to share updates, solve problems, and reinforce policies.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, shipping, and other departments to ensure smooth workflow.
Quality & Standards
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 requirements and Polycorp’s Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Participate in audits, workplace inspections, and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Completion of post-secondary education and/or equivalent related work experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in manufacturing, preferably 3-5 years in a complex, high-demand environment (preferred but not required).
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9000, lean manufacturing principles (including 5S), Occupational Health & Safety Act, and workplace inspection/audit processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with payroll or HR management systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and hold teams accountable.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • College diploma in a relevant field.
  • Experience working in a rubber factory with equipment such as calenders, mills, extrusion etc.
  • Experience managing performance appraisal systems, attendance programs, and return-to-work processes.

Candidates who cannot demonstrate a minimum of 7 years supervising in a manufacturing environment need not apply.

Desirable (Preferred, Not Required)
  • College diploma in a relevant field.
  • Experience working in a rubber factory with equipment such as calenders, mills, extrusion, presses etc.
  • Experience managing performance appraisal systems, attendance programs, and return-to-work processes.
