Job summary

Compass Group Canada is seeking a Day Shift Cafeteria Supervisor to oversee breakfast and lunch service, supervise team members, and maintain high standards of food safety and customer service in a fast-paced cafeteria environment.

The role requires coordinating with Shift Managers, scheduling staff, managing inventories and costs, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with some weekends. Based in Alliston, Ontario.

Qualifications

  • Previous food service or supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, organized, and professional, with ability to lead by example and create a positive staff/guest experience.
  • Must be comfortable in a busy industrial setting and able to stand/walk for extended periods.
  • Excellent customer service skills and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Shift Managers to supervise multiple food service units.
  • Supervise production of menu items, ensure cash readings, manage associates and schedule staff.
  • Learn from and assist the Shift Manager to resolve labour relations issues and track weekly inventories, sales revenue, labour and food cost.
  • Communicate positively to café patrons and address issues promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with Compass’ Quality Assurance and Health and Safety Program, OHSA and WHMIS regulations.
  • Coordinate workplace inspections and WHMIS training; report accidents to head office.
  • Ensure HACCP standards are followed in food preparation.

The Day Shift Cafeteria Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the cafeteria during breakfast and lunch service. This role includes supervising team members, ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining food safety and sanitation standards, assisting with food preparation and merchandising, and supporting smooth day-to-day operations in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule is Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with some weekends required.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Assist the Shift Managers to supervise multiple food service units.
  • Supervise the production of menu items, ensure completion of cash readings, manage associates, schedule staff working hours, hire and train employees.
  • Learn from and assist the Shift Manager to resolve labour relation issues, track and produce reports on weekly inventories, sales revenue, labour and food cost.
  • Communicate positively and enthusiastically to the café patrons and address their issues promptly.
  • Ensure strict compliance with Compass’ Quality Assurance and Health and Safety Program, Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS regulations.
  • Coordinate frequent workplace inspections and WHMIS training of all staff and promptly report any workplace accident or incident to head office.
  • Ensure Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) standards are followed in the food preparation process.
