Job summary

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Inc. is seeking a Compounding Supervisor to co-coordinate shift activities in the compounding department, ensuring safe work practices and the highest product quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities include maintaining cGMP compliance, monitoring schedules, validating batch records, leading CAPAs, participating in audits, and coaching staff in EHS, quality and operational excellence. A science background and 5–7 years’ supervisory experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary Education in Science is preferred.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of supervisory experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing or related environment.
  • Strong pharmaceutical/food industry experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement is preferred.
  • Sound knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to mentor, coach and motivate Compounding staff to achieve highest standards in EHS, Quality and operational efficiency.
  • Self-motivated with a positive outlook.
  • Ability to analyze, perform root cause analysis, involve appropriate stakeholders in the decision-making process.
  • Good time-management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate shift activities for the compounding department.
  • Ensure adherence to cGMP guidelines and Sun Pharma SOPs.
  • Monitor compounding schedule adherence daily.
  • Meet cycle time standards and improve efficiency.
  • Lead scheduling with operations and support departments.
  • Review batch records, SOP revisions, and validation protocols.
  • Ensure calibration, preventive maintenance, and repairs are completed with documentation.
  • Lead safety policies and procedures.
  • Coach staff and participate in budget preparation.
  • Lead CAPAs and Change Controls to closure.
  • Participate in audits and ensure audit readiness.
  • Maintain inventory of consumables and equipment; assist with parts ordering.
  • Support inter-departmental meetings and training sessions.
  • Manage payroll, Time & Attendance, hiring, coaching, recognition, and performance management.
  • Report safety incidents and inspections.
  • Delegate and lead with integrity and ethical standards.
  • Execute other duties as required.
  • Report adverse events to pharmacovigilance.

Job purpose

The compounding supervisor is responsible for co-coordinating shift activities for the compounding department. Ensuring safe work practices, while focusing on highest possible product quality and efficiency.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Ensure that all operations and staff are performing in accordance with cGMP guidelines and Sun Pharma SOPs. Promote 5S activities and ensure good housekeeping is maintained at all times.
  • Monitor and ensure compounding schedule adherence on a daily basis.
  • Ensure that Compounding cycle time standards are met and exceeded.
  • Participate in scheduling activities with other members of operations and support departments as requested.
  • Review batch records, SOP revisions, Validation protocols and other documents as required.
  • Ensure timely completion of all Calibration, Preventive Maintenance and Repairs along with the necessary documentation Ensure self- training and training of compounding associates are kept current.
  • Follow and lead staff in Sun Pharma Safety, Health, and Environmental policies and procedures. Ensure that safety procedures are followed at all times.
  • Play a leading role in employee management such as coaching for improvement, and performance management Assist in preparing departmental budget.
  • Participate in and/or lead Non-Conformance Investigations related to people, process, product or equipment.
  • Develop and complete robust Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA’s).
  • Initiate, and follow through to closure of Change Controls.
  • Participate in Internal, Customer and Regulatory Audits ensuring the department is audit ready at all times.
  • Maintain sufficient inventory of consumable supplies and equipment /parts at all times. Assist Maintenance department in the ordering of parts and consumables.
  • Participate in inter-departmental meetings when required.
  • Participate and conduct training sessions/team meetings as required.
  • Perform payroll and human resources functions such as managing Time & Attendance, hiring, coaching, recognition/correction and performance management of team members
  • Report and complete safety incident reports and safety self- inspections
  • Delegate, direct, and consult department employees as necessary with high level of personal integrity, ethical standards including leading by example.
  • Other duties as required / assigned.
Additional responsibility (Only applicable to customer facing roles)
  • Report any adverse event received from customers for company products to the pharmacovigilance department / Drug Safety on the same day or within 1 business day

  • Ability to work rotational shifts (Morning and Midnight).

  • May be contacted through telephone during off hours regarding “urgent” or emergency issues
  • Exposure to chemicals, odors from raw materials and products, as well as noise from equipment.

The presently-anticipated base compensation pay range for this position is $70,000 to $87,500. Actual base compensation may vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to geographical location and experience. In addition, this position is part of the Annual Performance Bonus Plan. Employees are eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs which include medical, dental and vision coverage; life insurance; RRSP savings plan; and the employee assistance program. Employees also receive various paid time off benefits, including vacation time and sick time.
