Union Gospel Mission seeks a Supervisor, Children & Youth Program to lead the Eastsiders’ program in Vancouver. You will provide vision, pastoral leadership, and staff development while coordinating licensing, seasonal projects, and partnerships.
You will oversee afterschool licensing, support ongoing programming, and maintain program quality within the Mission’s values. Strong admin and faith-based leadership are essential.

The Supervisor, Children & Youth Program, oversees all aspects of the Eastsiders’ program, which involves caring pastorally for the children and youth who come to the Centre and who live in the Centre. You are responsible to provide vision and leadership to the staff and support them and their professional development. As well, you oversee all seasonal projects: camp partnership program and Christmas Hamper program. As UGM’s afterschool licensing point of contact, you coordinate, implement and ensure UGM’s compliance with our current Eastsiders’ Afterschool Licensed Program. You contribute actively to all current and future children and youth programming, and build connections with other DTES Children’s and Youth providers. You are an important leader of the outreach team and provide on-call supervision in a rotation with other supervisors. As a spiritual leader, you will be a role model for your team, and strive to enhance client care and services that are consistent with Union Gospel Mission’s Vision and Core values.
This is a permanent, full-time (37.5hours per week) position. The starting range for this position is $31.92 to $34.88 per hour.

Work is generally performed indoors, with up to 10% of the time spent outdoors in all types of weather.
Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing, walking or reaching for up to 50% of the time. Employee is required to look at a computer screen and use a keyboard for up to 90% of the time. Must be able to lift up to 35lbs occasionally.
Working environment is generally favourable. Lighting and temperature are adequate. Work is performed amid normal conditions of dust, odors, fumes, and noises. Occasional environmental exposures to cold, heat, and water. This position is required to work in an environment often dealing with clients in crisis situations brought about by diverse problems. The ability to function independently and frequently under pressure, while managing multiple concurrent tasks including emergency situations is an ongoing expectation of this position.
This position works a Tuesday to Saturday schedule, including evening shifts and day shifts. Some weekend and after-hours work is expected as an on-call supervisor. Overtime and work on statutory holidays may be required.
Job requires frequent interaction with the public some of whom may be upset, abusive, and/or violent.
Job requires working frequently with people in unhealthy conditions and may include exposure to bodily fluids, lice and bedbugs. Employee is required to hear information about clients’ lives which may be troubling or upsetting, and may cause emotional issues including vicarious trauma.
