Job summary

Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Partnership is seeking a catering team member to deliver championship fan service and expertly execute events at our venues in Toronto. You will oversee catering events and occasional à la carte service, coordinating setup, production sheets, and seating plans.

The role requires 2+ years event experience, Smart Serve certification, and strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of event experience, catering/banquet preferred.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Smart Serve certification required.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience in supervising staff and delivering high-quality guest service.
  • Knowledge of food and wine is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver championship fan service and event execution to guests and clients.
  • Oversee catering events and a la carte service.
  • Prepare and organize setup outlines, production sheets, and seating plans.
  • Ensure pre- and post-service tasks are completed and staff duties assigned.
  • Lead expeditions of BEOs, liaising with kitchen and dining staff.
  • Resolve order discrepancies calmly and professionally.
  • Supervise the floor during events and address client concerns.
  • Complete closing duties with attention to detail.
  • Document service issues and resolutions and produce post-event reports.
  • Attend BEO meetings and stay updated via change log.
  • Provide coaching and training to staff.
  • Assist with other admin tasks including performance reviews.

Job Description
  • As a valuable member of the Catering team, you will be responsible for delivering championship fan service and event execution to guests and clients during a variety of corporate and social events.
  • Oversee catering events and a la carte service, depending on business needs.
  • Prepare and organize setup outlines, production sheets, and seating plans.
  • Ensure pre- and post-service tasks are completed and staff are assigned sections and duties.
  • Lead expedition of BEOs, liaising with the kitchen and client/food to the dining room.
  • Ensure order discrepancies are quickly resolved in a calm and professional manner.
  • Supervise the floor during the event/during service; respond to client & guest concerns.
  • Ensure closing duties are completed with attention to detail.
  • Document service issues and resolutions.
  • Produces post-event evaluation reports, including financial data entry and overall analysis.
  • Attend BEO Meetings, stay informed of updates via the change log.
  • Lead by example and provide ongoing coaching/training / motivation to staff.
  • Assist with other administrative functions, including employee performance reviews.
  • Adhere to MLSE service standards and policies.
  • Follow all MLSE Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of event experience, catering/banquet preferred.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Smart Serve certification required.
  • Deep understanding and practical knowledge of restaurant business principles and service etiquette.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Effective team management experience.
  • A dedicated approach toward day-to-day activities and shifting demands.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and wine.
  • Competent with POS (Point of Sales).
  • An aptitude for identifying and assessing details.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Shown to perform well under pressure; handle multiple priorities at a time.
  • Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • An ongoing awareness and responsiveness to client satisfaction.

Job Posting Compensation Range/Rate: $24.75 / hour
