Job Overview: The Sanitation Supervisor oversees and coordinates all sanitation team activities to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining the highest standards of hygiene throughout the bakery.

Responsibilities :

  • Ensure sanitation activities are completed on time and in accordance with the production/master sanitation schedule.
  • Ensure all employees are trained and qualified in WHMIS and other chemical safety programs prior to handling, storing, and using chemicals and sanitation equipment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve sanitation processes, implement enhancements, and ensure proper use and maintenance of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
  • Maintain hygiene standards to meet company policies and industry certifications (GMP, HACCP).
  • Schedule and delegate tasks to sanitation operators to maintain cleanliness in all areas.
  • Conduct daily team meetings to communicate updates, address concerns, and provide feedback.
  • Prepare daily reports on sanitation activities.
  • Complete accident investigations for incidents involving the department or team members.
  • Collaborate with the Sanitation Training Coordinator for proper training and cross-training of sanitation staff.
  • Maintain the Master Sanitation Schedule (SAP Sanitation Work Orders).
  • Supervise sanitation operations following plant policies and procedures (Safety, GMPs, HACCP).
  • Conduct routine inspections of lines post-cleaning to ensure readiness for pre-op inspection.
  • Document and report inspection findings, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Provide technical input for creating sanitation-related documents (SSOPs, Sanitation Work Orders).
  • Ensure all staff are aware of their responsibilities regarding food safety, legality, and quality.
  • Maintain hygiene, safety, and quality standards on the production floor.

Qualifications :

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of related experience in food manufacturing preferred.
  • Post-secondary education in food science, business, or technical engineering is a plus.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands include climbing, standing, or walking for extended periods, and using a computer more than 25% of the time. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.

Work Environment

The environment may involve working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to weather conditions, humidity, fumes, airborne particles, and extreme temperatures. Noise levels can be moderate to loud, and work may involve chemicals and heights.
