Job summary

Gerdau North America is seeking a supervisor for their Selkirk, Manitoba scrap yard. The role entails overseeing the placement and inventory control of scrap materials, ensuring safe operations, and managing a team. Candidates must have 5-7 years of experience in recycling and strong communication skills. Benefits include medical, dental, and a tuition reimbursement program. Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in recycling operations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Supervisory experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure proper placement, tracking, and inventory control of all scrap materials.
• Supervise scrap yard personnel for safe handling of materials.
• Diagnose equipment breakdowns and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain equipment operation to prevent damage and reduce repairs.
• Manage performance of all yard employees, including training and evaluations.

Duties

• Ensure proper placement, tracking and inventory control of all incoming and outgoing scrap materials
• Supervise scrap yard personnel to ensure the safe, efficient and compliant handling of all scrap materials entering and exiting the Yard
• Diagnose equipment breakdowns and implement appropriate corrective actions to minimize downtime
• Ensure proper operation and optimal utilization of equipment to prevent damage and reduce repair costs
• Maintain full accountability for the performance management of all Winnipeg Yard employees including training, scheduling, performance evaluations, payroll and disciplinary or corrective actions as required
• Maintain a strong working knowledge of the Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Act & Regulations, Manitoba Employment Standards and all other applicable legislation

Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with 5-7 years experience in a Recycling environment with related Shipping experience and excellent communication skills. Previous supervisory experience is a requirement.
