Job summary

Ledcor in Alberta is seeking an experienced Power Line Construction Superintendent to oversee day-to-day field operations, ensuring safety, quality, timeliness and budget adherence on transmission projects.

You will work with Ledcor Utilities’ direct workforce and subcontractors, travel on rotation to sites, and lead teams to deliver complex construction programs while upholding Ledcor standards and client expectations.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Power Line Technician certification is required.
  • 10+ years of transmission power line construction experience.
  • 5+ years on industrial facilities projects.
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental protection practices.
  • Solid understanding of current distribution power line construction practices.
  • Facilitation and mentoring skills; ability to move the team forward.
  • Proven track record building teams and promoting teamwork.
  • Knowledge of construction equipment and operating capabilities.
  • Ability to guide safe work practices in high-pressure environments.
  • Strong knowledge of construction documents, contracts, costs and budgets.
  • Clear communication with stakeholders; interpret needs and find solutions.
  • Identify constructability issues and plan around them.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills; manage multiple priorities.
  • MS Office suite proficiency (Excel/Outlook).
  • Clean driver’s abstract; pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements.

Job description

You are an experienced Power Line Construction Superintendent in the province of Alberta. You are responsible for day-to-day field operations, ensuring that projects are completed safely, above quality requirements, on time, and within budget. Throughout the project, you will be responsible for working directly with Ledcor Utilities’ direct workforce as well as any subcontractors.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates leadership in health, safety and environmental protection on the project
  • Applies the requirements of the Project Specific Safety Program (PSSP) to promote overall compliance of Ledcor HS&E standards, applicable OH&S / OSHA Acts, regulations and codes with all employees and subcontractors on the project
  • Ensures that projects are built according to approved plans, specifications and design drawings while making certain that high quality standards are maintained
  • Manages material quantities and ensures proper equipment and trades are available as required
  • Assumes a leadership role and provides guidance to field team
  • Supervises sub-contractors to achieve all required project deliverables
Qualifications
  • Journeyman Power Line Technician certification
  • 10+ years of transmission power line construction experience. Distribution experience is also an asset
  • 5+ years of experience working on industrial facilities projects
  • Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental protection practices and procedures as they apply to common construction processes
  • Solid understanding of current distribution power line construction practices
  • Facilitation and mentoring skills; is able to move the team forward and resolve conflict situations as they arise
  • A track record of building successful teams and promoting teamwork through motivating, coaching, and consensus-building
  • Knowledge of various pieces of construction equipment and their operating capabilities (i.e. bucket trucks, digger derricks, stringing equipment, vac trucks, etc.)
  • Proven ability to guide safe work practices in a high-pressure environment while maintaining project quality, schedule, and budget
  • Strong knowledge of construction documents (including utility plans and maps), contracts, costs, and budgets
  • Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with multiple project stakeholders, interpreting their needs and identifying solutions
  • Capable of anticipating constructability issues in complex situations and creating solutions in the construction plan and schedule
  • Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs; intermediate to advanced user of Microsoft Excel and Outlook
  • Clean drivers abstract
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements
Work Conditions
  • Travel to site on a rotational basis
  • Alberta-based is preferred but will consider qualified candidates from out of province willing to work on a rotational basis
  • This role requires working outdoors in various weather conditions
