As a Superintendent in the Maintenance Department, you will work with your team to provide exceptional maintenance services for the mill. You will be responsible for overseeing a team of Team Leaders and Planners. You will play an integral part in the planning, coordinating, and execution of maintenance activities. As a Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent, you will also help support the development of your team to ensure that both short‑term and long‑term strategic goals are being met.
Qualifications
- Education Required: Mechanical Engineering degree, Mechanical Technologist diploma, or Journeyman Tradesperson, with equivalent progressive supervisory experience
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in an industrial maintenance and/or production setting
- Knowledge of safety compliance programs and best practices along with commitment to operational excellence in a safe work environment is necessary
- Knowledge in key maintenance programs, such as reliability metrics, parts inventory management, project management, PLC programming, machining, and mechanical practices is essential
- Experience in budget management is required
- Ability to prioritize tasks to consistently meet deadlines while energizing and motivating a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and JD Edwards
- Problem solving skills and ability to lead and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Knowledge of daily management processes will be considered an asset but is not required
Responsibilities
- Oversee the planning, coordination and execution of the daily departmental maintenance activities
- Provide leadership, training, coaching, and development to the area maintenance teams
- Communicate short/long term operational strategies and initiatives to your team
- Optimize internal processes and drive continuous improvement to meet objectives
- Track, analyze, and improve key maintenance parameters such as: PM compliance, maintenance cost, and scheduled compliance
- Ensure quality and timeliness completion of work while adhering to the maintenance budget
- Adhere to labour contract and ensure compliance
- Ensure all safety and management policies are adhered to and foster an environment that is focused on safety and recommend process improvement initiatives
- Ensure consistent adherence to ISO standards for quality and environmental management
