Your key responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Facilities Project Managers to ensure high-quality and efficient delivery of work.
- Delegate assignments, monitor progress, and maintain accountability for timelines, quality standards, and compliance.
- Support staff through performance management, training plans, and ongoing feedback to foster a culture of safety, respect, communication, and productivity.
- Guide your team in assessing existing infrastructure, including condition, lifecycle expectations, and future suitability.
- Translate building management insights into prioritized project rankings and long-term asset strategies.
- Participate in developing and evaluating strategic and operational business plans, capital forecasts, and Realty Asset Management Planning (RAMP).
- Assist with preparing, monitoring, and reporting on capital and operating budgets.
- Lead the delivery of the City's realty project management program.
- Provide consistent leadership, direction, and communication to Project Managers to ensure alignment with program goals.
- Oversee the development of technical options analysis, business cases, and proposals that support evidence-based decision-making.
- Administer procurement processes for design and construction services.
- Manage contractor performance, ensuring safety compliance, quality control, and adherence to City standards.
- Ensure all work meets applicable legislation, building codes, electrical/mechanical standards, and City policies.
- Maintain and ensure accessibility of facility construction, telecommunications, and space management standards.
- Ensure environmental, safety, and equipment records are compliant with regulatory requirements.
What you bring
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, guide, and develop a team of Project Managers.
- Expertise in building management, asset lifecycle planning, and prioritizing facility-related capital projects.
- In-depth knowledge of building systems, construction project management, and applicable codes and standards (building, mechanical, electrical, safety, communications).
- Understanding of industry best practices and emerging technologies in asset and facilities management.
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, contractors, senior leadership, and external stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and collaboration.
- Ability to interpret directives, make sound decisions, and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to quickly learn City-specific software systems.
- Strong risk‑management abilities, including identifying and mitigating project risks and opportunities.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to Health, Safety and Environmental Management System standards.
Qualifications
- A recognized two-year diploma in business administration or a program with a technical emphasis in facilities technologies.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in facilities or project management, including at least three (3) years of supervisory or management experience, preferably in a municipal environment.
- Experience managing facility-related capital projects and leading PM teams.
- A background in building management, asset planning, and prioritizing capital work.
- Certified or eligibility to obtain a certificate as a Project Management Professional (PMP) is considered an asset.
- Professional membership in a related facilities or trades association is an asset.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
