Job description
Summer Student - Records Assistant

Town of Tillsonburg is looking for a summer student who will support the Corporate Services department by assisting with records management activities and administrative tasks. This role involves organizing and managing corporate records in both electronic and physical formats while ensuring compliance with records retention policies.

This is a seasonal student position with an option to enroll in the OMERS defined benefit pension plan.

Reports To: Deputy Clerk
Contract: May 4, 2026 - August 28, 2026
Hourly Rate: $17.60/hour
Weekly Hours: up to 40
Vacancy: 1 (new)

Criminal Record Check required for this position.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the organization, classification, and storage of corporate records in accordance with records management policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that corporate records are properly entered into the records management software and appropriately stored in physical format when required.
  • Responsible for scanning and classifying documents, data entry, cataloguing of archival materials and importing electronic data.
  • Assist with the destruction of records in accordance with the Town’s Records Retention By-law.
  • Support the reorganization and improvement of physical records storage.
  • Perform additional administrative and records-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • University/College student in Public Administration, Business, Information Technology, etc.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the job such as lifting, pushing and pulling.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent research skills and familiarity with research methods and sourcing.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects.
  • Judgement and discretion when dealing with confidential information.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel.
  • Must be returning to school in the Fall.
