Responsibilities

  • Respond to residents’ concerns and inquiries in a timely fashion.
  • Investigate and document all concerns.
  • Enforce the Town Parking By-Laws regularly.
  • Conduct park enforcement and bike patrols.
  • Attend court to provide evidence relating to charges laid.
  • Perform by-law administrative tasks and other duties as assigned.

Summer Student - By-Law Enforcement Officer

Enhance your post-secondary studies in Law Enforcement with practical experience as a Seasonal By-Law Enforcement Officer for the Town of Tillsonburg.

Reporting to the By-Law Enforcement Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to By-Law, conducting parking enforcement gaining compliance with the Town By-laws through education and enforcement action when required. The Seasonal By-Law Enforcement Officer will be a temporary full-time position between the months of May and September.

This is a seasonal student position with an option to enroll in OMERS defined benefit pension plan.

Department: Development and Operations

Division: Building & By-Law

Reports To: By-Law Enforcement Supervisor

Contract: May 4, 2026 to August 28, 2026

Hourly Rate: $19.12/hour (2025 rates)

Weekly Hours: 40 (must be willing to work days, afternoons & weekends)

Vacancy: 2 (new)

Criminal Record Check required for this position.

Responsibilities

Qualifications
  • Successfully completed or currently enrolled in Law & Security, Police Foundations or another related training course.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills with the ability to de-escalate conflict situations.
  • The ability to exercise discretion and to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Candidates with training from the Municipal Law Enforcement Officers Association (MLEOA) or the Ontario Association of Property Standards Officers would be an asset.
