Job summary

Chinook’s Edge School Division is hiring a full-time permanent YES Success Coach to work with Kindergarten through Grade 9 students across Olds schools. The role focuses on delivering developmentally appropriate social-emotional learning and mental health programs in classrooms and community settings.

The successful candidate will have formal education in health or social sciences and experience with youth mental health, addiction, FNMI and LGBTQ populations.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years working experience in addiction and mental health or health/human services related role (experience as a practicum student considered)
  • Familiar with the developmental, educational, emotional, social and recreational needs of children, youth and families
  • Ability to research and implement evidence based strategies to increase mental health and reduce stigma of mental illness in K-12 schools
  • Experience with delivering programming and comfortable with facilitating classroom programing from Kindergarten to High School grade levels
  • Effective time management skills
  • Takes initiative and is able to work independently as well as in teams
  • Solid comprehension and practice of personal and professional boundaries
  • Ability to develop supportive relationships with young people
  • Creative problem‑solving and decision‑making skills
  • Comfortable liaising with community members, school staff, community agencies and health care providers
  • Knowledge of the local community and resources available
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office programs
  • All employees must provide a criminal record check
  • All professions must provide proof of licensure or registration with the approved Alberta regulatory college, prior to commencing duties where applicable
  • All employees must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and insurance required to transport students as needed
  • Other professions governed by government acts, college or regulatory body requirements may be required to provide additional documentation.

  • Assess program outcomes and adjust activities to meet diverse student needs.

Job description

Chinook’s Edge School Division is looking to hire a full time permanent Success Coach position in the community of Olds. Focus of work will be from Kindergarten to grade 9. This position is based in the Deer Meadow Middle School, Olds High School and Reed Ranch. Candidates must have the skills and energy to connect with this age demographic, be highly charismatic and engaging while creating an inclusive and caring atmosphere. Preference will be given to applicants who have direct experience working with youth and who are comfortable with facilitating classroom programming.

Start date is November 2nd, 2026.

Hours are 40 hours week and does not align with school calendar dates, and includes 17 days of summer programming.

Job Description

The YES Success Coach provides mental health promotion and prevention to children and youth. Working as part of a collaborative team, this position develops and delivers developmentally appropriate, evidence based social emotional learning and mental health programming. Delivery of programming involves regular classroom programming and small group work in schools and community settings, and focuses on increasing knowledge, building skills and fostering abilities that enable students to better their social and emotional skill set.

This position requires someone who has been formally educated in the health or social sciences field (such as health promotion & prevention, social work, nursing, early childhood development, public health, psychology) and who is knowledgeable about addiction, mental health, FNMI and LGTBQ populations. Candidates must be comfortable presenting programs to classrooms, as well as offer engaging mental and physical health programs at lunch, after school and in the community.
