Job summary

Iconic Power Systems Inc. in Calgary is seeking an Electrical Designer to help deliver high-quality substation projects across Canada. You will support the design, estimation, and execution while collaborating with engineers, utilities, and clients to ensure safe, accurate designs.

The role requires 1-3 years in electrical engineering or utilities, a degree or diploma, and proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation. Travel for site visits may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology required.
• 1-3 years of experience in electrical engineering or utility environment.
• Ability to interpret sketches, standards and design specifications to produce engineering drawings.
• Understanding of utility, substation and high-voltage electrical systems.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
• Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
• Familiarity with codes, standards and client specifications.
• Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Bluebeam is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Create Single Line Diagrams.
• Develop site plans and electrical plans & sections.
• Prepare conduit plans & details.
• Develop designs using AutoCAD, MicroStation, Bluebeam, and related software.
• Analyze customer requirements, utility standards, and project specs.
• Prepare project estimates, material take-offs and BOMs.
• Coordinate with engineers, designers, drafters, utilities, vendors, and consultants.
• Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting and change management.
• Participate in project meetings, site visits and field support.
• Resolve design issues during construction and provide ongoing project support.

In this role, you will support the design, estimation, and execution of utility and industrial substation projects, working closely with engineers, project managers, utilities, and clients to deliver safe, accurate, and constructible designs.

What You'll Do

• Single Line Diagrams
• Site Plans
• Electrical Plans & Sections
• Conduit Plans & Details
• Develop designs using AutoCAD, MicroStation, Bluebeam, and other design software.
• Analyze customer requirements, utility standards, and project specifications.
• Prepare project estimates, material take-offs, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Coordinate with engineers, designers, drafters, utilities, vendors, and consultants.

What We're Looking For

Education
