Job description
Overview

We are seeking a specialist in wetlands and vegetation with strong expertise in environmental planning. The successful candidate will provide technical and strategic support for impact assessments, regulatory compliance, and planning activities. This role will be key in designing and implementing field studies, developing sampling strategies, preparing project descriptions, and delivering technical training programs. The specialist will also contribute to impact assessment documentation and participate in consultations with stakeholders and regulatory authorities to ensure projects meet environmental requirements.

Your role
  • Prepare and contribute to Field Study Plans for wetlands and vegetation surveys;
  • Develop sampling designs and strategies aligned with regulatory requirements and scientific best practices;
  • Coordinate with ECCC (Environment and Climate Change Canada) to ensure compliance and integration of federal guidelines;
  • Provide expert input to Project Description and environmental planning documents;
  • Participate in consultations with stakeholders, Indigenous communities, and regulatory authorities to ensure project alignment and compliance;
  • Ensure adherence to federal, provincial, and municipal environmental regulations;
  • Prepare and review technical reports, sections of environmental impact studies (baseline description, impacts, mitigation measures, compensation projects), and regulatory documents;
  • Develop and deliver technical training sessions for internal teams and stakeholders;
  • In collaboration with field campaign coordinators, carry out fieldwork to ensure compliance with methodologies and standardization of data collection for wetland and vegetation inventories;
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate ecological considerations into project planning and design;
  • Stay current with emerging trends, technologies, and scientific literature in wetland ecology, vegetation management, and environmental planning.
About you
  • Degree in Ecology, Botany, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, or related field;
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in wetland delineation, vegetation surveys, and environmental planning;
  • Proven track record in developing field study plans, sampling strategies, and regulatory submissions;
  • Strong knowledge of wetland classification systems and vegetation ecology;
  • Expertise in environmental planning frameworks and regulatory processes;
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and training skills;
  • Membership in relevant professional organizations is an asset;
  • French-English bilingualism is an asset.

*This position requires knowledge of another language besides French, namely English, as you will be part of a Canadian, global, or regional management team and will need to collaborate with colleagues outside Quebec.
