Job summary

Chilliwack School District No. 33 is seeking a Work Experience Facilitator to support students with work experience opportunities at Sardis Secondary School. The role requires collaboration with staff, parents and employers to arrange placements and manage transport and paperwork.

With minimal direction, you will assist students, coordinate schedules, and monitor progress while helping students develop job-ready and life skills in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus 6–12 month program.
• 6–12 months experience with adolescents in a business environment.
• Valid B.C. Class 5 driver's licence and insurance.
• Basic word processing skills.
• Intermediate computer knowledge.
• Awareness of post-secondary prerequisites when assisting students.
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures (WHMIS & WCB).
• Ability to show patience, care, and tolerance.
• Ability to apply behavior management strategies.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Ability to work with students with special needs.
• Ability to plan and schedule work.

Responsibilities

• Arrange work experience placements by contacting prospective employers and organizing hours and transportation.
• Ensure legal documents and permissions are signed and in order.
• Monitor and report student progress during work experience.
• Serve as a job coach for students.
• Develop job-ready skills with students individually or in small groups.
• Provide guidance and support for social and life skills development.
• Foster positive relationships between the district and employers/agencies.
• Deliver presentations to classes, organizations, and businesses.
• Create incentive programs with employers for student engagement.
• Assess student abilities and consult on placements with the Work Experience Coordinator.
• Meet with teachers, counselors, principals, career advisors, parents, and employers about placements.
• Maintain records of student progress.
• Provide transportation for work experience activities.
• Perform other work-experience related duties.
