Job summary

University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) hosts ICUBE Studio, supporting social entrepreneurship and early-stage start-ups. We seek a Student Lead with software development background to prototype and design for entrepreneurship ventures.

You will analyze user needs, build websites, train staff, and contribute to graphic design while collaborating with teams; one-year term, full-time, budget - term.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
• Minimum three years related experience.
• Experience with software design and development in a test-driven environment.
• Experience with databases and ORM frameworks (e.g. Hibernate).
• Experience with Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign.
• Experience working with WordPress and Shopify templates.
• Experience with CRM software.
• Demonstrated experience developing and producing a variety of graphic design and communications materials.
• Proficient in website development and maintenance, including knowledge of coding languages (e.g. C++, Java, JavaScript) and frameworks/systems (e.g. AngularJS, Git).
• Strong project management knowledge and skills.
• Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities.
• Excellent communication skills, strong analytical ability and keen attention to detail.
• Resourceful and a strong aptitude for troubleshooting.
• Demonstrated ability to learn and innovate.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Analyzing user needs and business processes to create programming solutions
• Providing detailed analysis and recommendations on the suitability of major new technology and software systems
• Advising on best practices and strategies to maximize digital communication initiatives
• Training staff and faculty on the use of digital technologies
• Designing graphic elements for digital and online media
• Building and maintaining websites
• Troubleshooting issues uncovered by testing or user feedback
• Conceptualizing, organizing and executing event activities
