Student Project Coordinator

What You’ll Be Working On

Our internships and co-ops provide a business-relevant project that allows you to independently manage your own area of responsibility with support from a Supervisor and Technical Mentor. Projects are scoped to your term and typically focus on a current construction project. The position is for a 4-8 month co-op starting in January 2026 and is based in the Greater Toronto Area.

Responsibilities
  • Project Coordination: Coordinate drawings and work-specific scope/trades.

  • Review trade quotes, verify material quantities, hours, and rates.

  • Participate in project meetings.

  • Conduct deficiency walks and update deficiency logs.

  • Issue warranties.

  • Take and coordinate progress photos.

  • Update field drawings and produce as-built drawings.

  • Field Coordination: Perform quantity takeoffs.

  • Coordinate sub-trade work.

  • Verify site conditions and coordinate with drawings.

  • Supervise sub-trade work.

  • Set up and maintain record keeping.

  • Layout site lines and grades using total station.

  • Scheduling: Update project schedules and create/maintain schedules. Obtain scheduling information from sub-trades. Create and maintain graphical scheduling. Monitor manpower productivity.

  • You are currently enrolled in Civil, Mechanical, Structural, or Industrial Engineering programs.

  • You will complete at least one more semester of education following your internship and possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

  • Residency or a valid work permit to work for Bird Construction or one of our wholly owned subsidiaries.

  • If selected for a role with client-specific requirements, you may be required to complete a pre-employment Medical and/or Alcohol & Drug testing.

Compensation

The compensation range for this position is $40,60 - $62,400 annually.
