Job summary

The University of Manitoba invites applications for a temporary course instructor for ARTS 1110 A01, Introduction to University. Start date August 24, 2026 and end date December 23, 2026. The appointment pay rate is $6,134.58 for the term and governed by the UM/CUPE 3909 (Student) Collective Agreement.

Responsibilities include preparing instructional materials, teaching, grading, and maintaining office hours. Qualifications: Master’s or Ph.D.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree, Ph.D. or Ph.D. candidate preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in English required.
  • Background/specialization in subject area required.
  • Demonstrated competence in post-secondary teaching required.
  • Empathetic approach to the instructional needs of students required.
  • Previous teaching in the subject area or related area asset.

Key responsibilities:
  • Preparing instructional and testing materials relevant to the course being taught.
  • Instructing/teaching/testing.
  • Marking/grading of exams and assignments etc.
  • Providing constructive feedback to students.
  • Maintaining regular office hours.
In the event that the course offers a field component, the instructor will be required to participate in training relating to due diligence and safety. The instructor will also be required to develop due diligence and safety plans for the specific field opportunity and to follow those plans in the field.

Where a University of Manitoba student is the successful candidate, the terms and conditions of employment, including
