Job summary

A municipal government in Thunder Bay is seeking a General Labourer who will perform various duties, including working on asphalt and concrete crews and assisting with road marking. Ideal candidates should communicate effectively, be highly motivated, and possess a valid Class 'G' Ontario Driver's Licence. POSITION SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Supervisor – Roads, performs general labourer duties as assigned.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs general labourer duties assigned in area of work.
  • Performs general labour duties on asphalt crew and concrete crew.
  • Assists with painting lines on roads.
QUALIFICATIONS
Skills & Abilities
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English
  • Must be highly motivated and work well in a team environment
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Must possess superior customer service skills
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class “G” Ontario Drivers Licence, or equivalent
  • Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
Physical Demands
  • This position requires constant standing/walking; frequent squatting/kneeling, and lifting
  • Must be able to drive a ½ ton truck as required
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Must remain a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
  • May be required to provide a successful driver’s abstract
