Job description
POSITION SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Supervisor is responsible for the general ground maintenance.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Cuts and trims grass, including weed eater duties.
  • Lines ball fields.
  • Weeds flower beds.
  • Picks up garbage.
  • Conducts ground maintenance.
  • Completes boulevard tree maintenance, including planting, chipping, etc.
  • Conducts playground equipment maintenance.
  • Completes janitorial duties, including cleaning and stocking washroom buildings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Skills & Abilities
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing in English.
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work well in a team environment.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Superior customer service skills and ability to deal with the public in a courteous and tactful manner.
  • Must be able to operate riding lawnmowers and paint striper for ball fields.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class “G” Ontario Drivers Licence, or equivalent.
  • Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the Corporation.
Asset
  • A certificate in standard first aid and CPR would be an asset.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Must remain a competent driver as defined by the Corporation.
  • May be required to provide a successful driver’s abstract.
  • May be required to work irregular hours and weekends.
