Job summary

A local municipality in Northwestern Ontario is seeking an individual for shop maintenance duties. You will assist in cleaning and organizing the shop, maintaining corporate equipment, and ensuring the cleanliness of the pool unit fleet. Ideal candidates will have a secondary school education, strong communication skills in English, and must hold a valid Class G Ontario Driver's Licence. This role also requires teamwork and the ability to work with minimal supervision, ensuring high standards in all tasks assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Supervisor – Equipment (Fleet), and the technical direction and guidance of the Leadhand – Truck & Coach/Automotive Technician, performs shop maintenance duties.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assists with daily shop maintenance duties, such as cleaning and organizing the shop, the storage compound, and the parts storage building.
  • Cleans and paints Corporate equipment, as directed.
  • Washes and cleans the pool unit fleet
  • Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience
  • Secondary school education or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely in English, both orally and in writing
  • Must be highly motivated and work well in a team environment
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class “G” Ontario Driver’s Licence, or equivalent
  • Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
Physical Demands
  • This position requires constant standing/walking; frequent squatting/kneeling and lifting (varying amounts)
  • Must be able to bend, stretch and twist freely
Conditions of Employment
  • Must remain a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
  • May be required to provide a successful driver’s abstract
